Gov. Ron DeSantis has become known as someone who is not bashful about doing what it takes to advocate for his residents of the sunshine state in whatever means necessary to fight off new variants as they are steadily being thrust upon the citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Monday, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference in Ft. Lauderdale at the Brown Medical Center. It was there when a reporter asked about Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez being found frolicking on the Floridian beaches, namely Miami beach.
DeSantis responded saying, “If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man, let me tell you. I mean, congresspeople, mayors, governors, you name it.”
He went on to say, “It’s interesting, though, the reception that some of these folks will get in Florida because I think a lot of Floridians say ‘Wait a minute you’re bashing us because we’re not doing your draconian policies, yet we’re the first place you want to flee to basically be able to enjoy life.'”
Let’s be honest, everyone just wants to live their best life, but to be instrumental in locking down states, demanding that if they don’t stay locked up in their homes, masked and vaxxed then they just don’t care about their own safety enough. Therefore they threaten to strip our civil rights from us all while they themselves frolic on the very beaches in other states where Governors are doing their part, being proactive to make sure we survive this pandemic.
We know our rights, and as much as we are fearful of losing them, what we have to understand is that life will never change for the AOC’s of the world. No matter how this ends, the politicians and elite will still be frolicking on beaches and eating at 3 Michelin star restaurants while we’re locked away in our houses, only able to go to work and buy the occasional groceries they allow us to have.
If we do not wake up now and realize we are merely pawns we will lose it all. DeSantis has thrown around a ballpark figure of half a dozen of the very governors that have locked down their own states have been spotted down in the sunshine state.
However, DeSantis has expressed nothing but gratitude that his state has become a place of reprieve for people of all walks of life. To have their rights and freedoms protected makes the sunshine state a state worth living in.
DeSantis has openly criticized the obvious failure that vaccine passports have been in efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 along with his disappointment in the total discrimination against those who have chosen not to receive the vaccine as a result of the government not being fully transparent about the contents or the side effects.
As of April 2021, Florida permanently banned vaccine passports with a 76-40 vote. Maybe if leaders were required by law to live by the rules and restrictions they place on their home turf, the citizens just might find a bit of relief. We all know the saying nowadays when it comes to most politicians, say it with me y’all, “rules for thee, but not for me”
It’s just like everybody’s Granny says, What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. And I stand by that statement. Given there are roughly 334 million Americans, If every citizen that was fed up, decided enough is enough, we would undoubtedly be a force surly to be reckoned with.
If you’re not already poaching your bags, you should be. We just might see you there!
